Minnesota Vikings: 3 Bold predictions vs. 49ers in NFC Divisional Round
1. Vikings edge 49ers to advance to NFC Championship
The third and final bold prediction that will occur for the Minnesota Vikings at the end of their NFC Divisional Round matchup on the road against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend is that the Vikings will edge past the 49ers to continue their underdog run in the postseason.
Going into the game riding high off of its overtime victory on the road in a tough environment in New Orleans last weekend, Minnesota will carry that positive momentum into the NFC Divisional Round and will once again come away with an upset victory.
While once again going into another postseason contest as a road underdog this weekend, the Vikings and 49ers game will be a low-scoring affair much like what we saw in Minnesota’s opening-round win over the Saints, with the Vikings ultimately pulling away late in the contest once again to move along in the playoffs.
With the win, Minnesota will head into the NFC Championship Game and will face either the fifth-seeded Seattle Seahawks or the second-seeded Green Bay Packers for a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Could you imagine if we get another Vikings/Packers matchup this season, this time coming in the conference championship?
Going into Saturday’s game, Minnesota has been fairly average when it comes to how it has played on the road this year. The Vikings, although they are 1-0 on the road in the postseason, held a road record of 4-4 overall during the regular season.
San Francisco, on the other hand, held a record of 6-2 overall in front of its home fans at Levi’s Stadium during the 2019 campaign and have shown the ability to step up in big games on its home field this year.
But with the entire league likely leaning towards picking the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round contest on Saturday, the Vikings will once again pull out an upset and will shock the NFL by edging by the top team in the NFC to continue their postseason run.
