Will the Detroit Lions regret giving it another go with Matt Patricia in 2020 as their head coach when looking at the results from the previous two seasons?

More from NFL Spin Zone

Originally, the plan surrounding the hiring of Patricia in 2018 was to help the Lions become a top contender in the NFC again since the team seemed like they just needed the right head coach.

But after seeing the results of this past season, it’s clear that Detroit is a major work in progress, and Patricia will arguably start the year on the hot seat since missing out on the playoffs again could result in the loss of his job.

Sadly, not even the loss of Matthew Stafford to a back injury can be used as an excuse for the Lions since the struggles were already taking place before this happened.

Talent-wise, there’s certainly plenty for Detroit to build on over the next few months, and having a high draft pick should help the team even more.

To top it off, the Lions playing in the NFC North with three other teams that are expected to be contenders in 2020 as well adds even more pressure to the mix heading into next season.
