With the offseason in full swing for the Atlanta Falcons, here are three offseason moves the organization should make to return to the playoffs in 2020.

While a few teams continue to prepare to make a run at a Super Bowl appearance in the 2020 NFL Playoffs, the Atlanta Falcons are in full offseason mode. With the 2019 campaign in the rearview mirror for Atlanta and the focus fully on the year ahead, preparations for the 2020 season are underway for the Falcons.

Atlanta, which ended the year on a high note by winning four straight games capped off by a thrilling overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in the regular-season finale, ultimately wasn’t able to overcome a rough start to the season during the latter portion of its schedule to try and make a push for the playoffs.

The Falcons wrapped up the 2019 season with an overall record of 7-9, finishing the year second in the NFC South standings behind only the New Orleans Saints (13-3) while sitting ahead of the Buccaneers (7-9) and the Carolina Panthers (5-11) in the standings.

Although the second half of the year ultimately didn’t decide whether or not Atlanta would reach the postseason after it was basically eliminated from the playoffs earlier in the season, the fact that the Falcons’ season is now over and they won’t be playing for a chance to win a Super Bowl title this year is disappointing.

The Falcons are missing the postseason once again after having made two deep playoff runs in both of the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Atlanta will now put the disappointment that took place during the 2019 season behind them while shifting the focus to the 2020 year and trying to continue to improve and hopefully get back to the postseason at the end of the upcoming regular season.

WIth the NFL Draft and free agency lying ahead of the Falcons and the rest of the league, there are a few different areas where Atlanta could look to improve in advance of the year ahead.

As the offseason gets underway and personnel begins to change within the Atlanta organization, let’s dive into three things that should take place during the offseason in order for the Falcons to put together a solid performance and try and make a return to the playoffs in 2020.
