There’s Golden Tate, the young up-and-comer Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. None of the aforementioned provide an elite catch radius, however. Yes, there’s tight end Evan Engram but the wide receiver that Jones is currently working with are not at the level they need to be right now. The offense needs a player who can work the boundary and provide Jones with some length.
Looking deep into the draft pool, a player like Jauan Jennings from Tennessee is a possible target. The 6-3, 208-pound wide receiver is an ideal fit at the X. He’s a fifth-year senior coming into the NFL with experience working the middle of the field in an offense that utilized NFL route concepts in offensive coordinator Jim Chaney’s scheme.
Jennings can provide the Giants with a possession type receiver with length who can contested balls. He’s a tough player who fights for every possession and loved to block. He can come in right away and contribute in the run game and help out in the red zone thanks to his powerful route running and size.
The Tennessee standout is a Day 3 prospect that can contribute in Week 1, which is incredibly valuable for the Giants to jump on.
