Houston Cougars offensive tackle Josh Jones looks like he was built in a lab to dominate on the edge of an offensive line. At 6-5, 311 pounds, he’s a titanic force that plays with great strength and has the ability to move in ways that players his size should not be able to. The issues with Jones are technical but he showed some promising things that make you believe reworking those technical tools might not be too difficult.

As the Packers face a difficult free agency decision with Bryan Bulaga, bringing in Jones should be in their best interest. And yes, while Green Bay does need to improve on the interior, that might be best solved in free agency itself while going big on tackle and taking Jones in the second round. Doing so could help to further maximize this offense under Matt LaFleur.

As mentioned, some people would like to see the Packers address linebacker with their first-round pick as it was an issue for them. Not only that but Blake Martinez is set to hit free agency this offseason and Green Bay might be willing to move on from him. Thus, the Packers need a strong run defender to help in that regard and that pairs well with Oren Burks, who they are looking forward to hopefully getting a full season of in 2020.

Evan Weaver can be that run defender. His instincts and speed when closing in as a tackler is phenomenal and he was one of the anchors of a sneakily great Cal Golden Bears defense this past season. While he may not be the athlete needed to be a coverage player, getting a player as capable against the run in the third round could be quite valuable for the Packers given their shortcomings and needs.
