More from NFL Spin Zone

Patrick Queen wasn’t the most sought-after linebacker in the 2020 NFL Draft class entering the season as he needed to make some strides in his game. Not only was he able to do exactly that but the LSU linebacker was able to shine in the biggest moments. His performances against Oklahoma and Clemson in the College Football Playoff showcased the NFL potential that the linebacker clearly possesses.

Scouting Outlook

"Patrick Queen has every trait needed to become an every down defensive playmaker at the next level. He’s athletic, fluid, physical, urgent and intelligent. More experience would be ideal, but Queen shined in the biggest moments of LSU’s Championship run, showcasing the skill set of a second level enforcer. Queen doesn’t have much in the way of restrictions, showcasing the reactive athleticism and movement skills needed to work sideline to sideline and thrive in pass coverage. – Joe Marino, The Draft Network"

Fit with the Packers

Particularly given the uncertainty of Blake Martinez’s future in Green Bay, the Packers could really use an upgrade at linebacker. If they were going to use the No. 30 overall pick to address that need, getting a player of Queen’s ilk would be the ideal scenario as he’d not only fit into Mike Pettine’s desire for strong pass coverage but would drastically improve a lacking run defense.

Admittedly, Queen may need to be honed in a bit from a technical standpoint but, with the right coaching, he checks every box for the physical tools needed to be an every-down linebacker that can help the Packers defense in every way, something they’ve been lacking in recent years.
