2. Dallas Cowboys

Jason Garrett is out and Mike McCarthy is in at head coach for the Dallas Cowboys. That change alone might be enough to get the Cowboys to the top of the NFC East or, at the very least, back into the playoffs after a disappointing 8-8 record this past year. After all, the narrative all along with Garrett was that this was a roster with 12-4 talent and 4-12 coaching, which led to their mediocre record.

Of course, the Cowboys have a very critical offseason ahead in terms of their future. They need to lock up quarterback Dak Prescott to a new deal, whether that means agreeing to one early or slapping him with the franchise tag. Furthermore, Dallas also has a tough decision to make regarding wide receiver Amari Cooper, who also needs a new contract after the Cowboys traded a first-round pick for him in 2018.

My gut tells me that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones aren’t letting those players out of the building. So with that, Leighton Vander Esch hopefully returning to the defense next season to join stars like Jaylon Smith and DeMarcus Lawerence, one of the best offensive lines in the NFL still and a stalwart running back in Ezekiel Elliott, this team should be primed for a run.

Even if McCarthy isn’t one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, he has won a Super Bowl before while in Green Bay and is competent, which was something Garrett often left up to question when he was at the helm. With the change at head coach and the elite talent of this roster, the Cowboys should be on the upswing in 2020.
