NFL Free Agency 2020: 5 Best landing spots for Jameis Winston
By Dan Parzych
3. Chicago Bears
To say Mitch Trubisky is on the hot seat for the Chicago Bears would be a huge understatement after the team took an unfortunate step back this past season by failing to reach the playoffs after winning the NFC North the year before.
Plenty of factors came into play behind the Bears coming up short, but unfortunately it’s difficult to ignore all of the inconsistent play surrounding Trubisky.
Even though Chicago made it clear they were willing to give it another go with Trubisky in 2020, the last thing they can afford is to see Trubisky go through another year of struggles that results in the Bears missing out on the playoffs again.
Both quarterbacks have certainly seen their fair share of issues over the years, but at the moment, the argument can be made that Winston has an edge over Trubisky talent wise, and the numbers will back this up.
Similar to the Indianapolis Colts, if Chicago were to somehow end up being in the race to land Winston, the Bears would need to come up with some sort of plan for Trubisky since it seems difficult to imagine both quarterbacks on the roster for 2020.
As bad as it sounds, this scenario would most likely require Chicago accepting a second or third-round pick at best for Trubisky, but if it helped the offense upgrade with Winston, this is what would really matter the most.
