Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. USC. Michael Pittman Jr.. 808. Scouting Report. 3. player

With the Ravens’ previous pick in the second round, they took a receiver in this mock draft. But as wide receiver can be a tricky position to draft for between injuries and development and with the Ravens’ need, there’s no reason not to double-dip at the position heading into the third round.

While Hamler is a super speedy receiver who wins with quickness, his poor ball skills and slight frame can limit him. Meanwhile, Michael Pittman Jr. is the exact opposite of Hamler. Pittman will not shake you with hard breaks out of his routes and won’t burn you with downfield speed. But where Pittman does excel is with his physicality, hands and being flat-out strong.

Oftentimes you will see bigger, stronger receivers not use their literal strength to their advantage. That is certainly not the case with the USC product. Pittman will often be able to just out-physical cornerbacks and will be able to work through defenders when they open their hips to him.

Pittman is also able to do very well against man coverage with his hand fighting. Pittman was also gifted with catcher’s mitts for hands and can haul in throws with ease while knowing how to protect himself and the ball. After the catch, Pittman is hard to take down, not because he is shaking somebody out of their cleats but because he is running through somebody

Pittman would give Jackson a contested-catch threat who can physically outmatch smaller cornerbacks. Furthermore, he fits perfectly into the way Baltimore loves to run the ball as Pittman is a mauling run-blocker that will excel rag-dolling defensive backs on the edge in the rushing attack.

Other Players Available: Van Jefferson, Rashard Lawrence, Akeem Davis-Gaither
