New York Jets: 3 Big-name targets in 2020 NFL free agency
2. Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE
The Jets have not had an elite pass rusher since the days of John Abraham and he last played for Gang Green in 2005 — back in the George W. Bush days, for reference. NFL teams are constantly looking for players that can put pressure on the quarterback and the elite are usually paid handsomely.

While Jadeveon Clowney may not be an elite pass rusher in the mold of a Reggie White or Bruce Smith, he is a disruptive force on the gridiron and that’s just what the doctor ordered for New York.
The three-time Pro Bowler was solid during the regular season for Seattle last year but he really shined in the NFC playoffs. In two playoff contests for the Seahawks, the 6-5, 255-pounder recorded nine tackles, three quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks. There is no denying his talent and ultra-high ceiling.
The South Carolina product would instantly upgrade a Jets defensive line that needs some revamping. In their base 3-4 defensive alignment, Clowney can line up at left defensive end or right defensive end. He’d be a huge upgrade over current left end Henry Anderson or second-year right end Quinnen Williams. Anderson and Williams are decent players at this point in time but Clowney would elevate their line to another level.
Clowney missed four games over his last two seasons and has played in only one full 16-game regular season (2017 with Houston). Durability is a concern. However, the Rock Hill, SC native is just 27 years old, so he’s still in his prime.
He should have plenty of suitors. The Jets should be one of them.
