3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay ran for 1,521 total yards in 2019 (95.1 yards per game). That puts the Buccaneers among the ten worst rushing teams in the league last season. Tampa Bay’s ground game struggles hardly surprised fans. With issues along the offensive line and in the backfield, the Buccaneers need some serious renovations.

Ronald Jones II led Tampa Bay in rushing this past season with 724 yards. The 2018 second-round pick disappointed as a rookie, and he continued struggling as a sophomore. While Jones finally saw significant playing time, Bruce Arians repeatedly benched the 22-year-old for missing routine blocking assignments.

Peyton Barber, who led the Buccaneers with 871 rushing yards in 2018, saw significantly fewer opportunities in 2019. Barber will enter free agency this spring, leaving Jones as Tampa Bay’s dominant running back. However, Arians may not feel comfortable with Jones assuming a larger role.

With just under $80 million in cap space, the Buccaneers can find their quarterback of the future and address the issue at running back. Once again, Tampa Bay might feel fine sticking with Jones and whatever backup they add through free agency or the draft. However, Gordon offers a much more versatile set of skills than Jones.
