2. Indianapolis Colts

New York being willing to move down in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft — or so they say — should be music to the ears of the Indianapolis Colts. They are in need of a long-term answer at quarterback to upgrade over Jacoby Brissett and, while they could wait for Jordan Love at the No. 13 overall pick, getting a better and closer-to-ready prospect would serve them much better.

The issue for the Colts as things currently stand, however, is that they aren’t going to be able to offer something like the Miami Dolphins or even Los Angeles Chargers to move up to No. 3. However, when you look at moving up to No. 4, they have an army of second-round picks that teams like the Chargers and Panthers do not.

While Colts general manager Chris Ballard has often traded back, this could be a situation where they could reverse that trend and move up if the Giants are willing to do business.

1. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have already parted ways with long-time starting quarterback Philip Rivers, meaning they are in need of answers at the position. Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor isn’t the answer, probably even for just the 2020 season, and though they may land a free agent such as Tom Brady, his time left in the NFL isn’t great at this point. They could be in dire need of a quarterback.

Los Angeles, given that need, could be inclined to take make an aggressive move up. They aren’t going to be able to outbid a team like the Dolphins to possibly move up to No. 3. However, if they want to ensure they land a player like Justin Herbert, they could jump right behind Miami — assuming they trade up — at the No. 4 spot. Doing so would ensure they get their successor in LA.
