4. Carolina Panthers

New Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and the franchise made waves at the opening of the NFL Combine when reports surfaced that they are going to roll with Cam Newton as their starting quarterback for the 2020 NFL season. As such, they could be out of the mix in terms of possibly trading up from the No. 7 pick to take a quarterback, right? Well, that may not be the case.

The pseudo-commitment to Newton could be paper-thin for the Panthers. Rhule and new offensive coordinator Joe Brady seem tailormade to bring a young quarterback along. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that Newton, on the wrong side of 30 and coming off two injury-plagued seasons and surgery, will be the player he once was.

If there is still a lack of faith internally in what Newton can be for Carolina long term, they may still be in need of a quarterback and trading up with the Giants could well be in the cards.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

Your guess at to what the Las Vegas Raiders are planning to do at quarterback with Derek Carr and otherwise is as good as any. They have seemingly been committed to Carr but, at the same time, have been at the center of plenty of Tom Brady free agency rumors already this offseason. Subsequently, it can’t be counted out that they could be in the market for a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Outside of the Dolphins, the Raiders are the only team with a potential desire to draft a quarterback that has multiple first-round picks (No. 12 and 19). Thus, they have one of the most valuable arsenals to potentially send the Giants in a trade for the No. 4 pick. While that may be true, they don’t come in as one of the top two options to deal with New York simply because we don’t know if they would even want to trade up for a quarterback at this point.
