In the wake of a breakout 2019 season that saw him land on the Associated Press’ All-Pro second team, safety Justin Simmons will likely remain with the Denver Broncos, according to the most recent rumors.

Mike Klis of KUSA in Denver reported earlier this month the Broncos are likely to use a tag to retain Simmons and that Simmons is amenable to playing the 2020 season under such a designation.
Simmons’ situation has been complicated by the fact his former agent, Rich Hurtado, was hired by the Broncos to handle their salary cap and contract negotiations.
Simmons, a third-round pick by the Broncos from Boston College in 2016, started all 16 games for Denver last season, finishing with four interceptions, 93 tackles (65 solo) and two tackles for loss from the secondary.
Opposing quarterbacks targeted him 53 times, completing 28 passes for 288 yards and one touchdown, a rating of just 43.6. He played every defensive snap for Denver (the second consecutive season Simmons has done so), as well as 96 plays on special teams and ranked ninth in the NFL with 15 passes defended.
