4. Zack Baun, EDGE, Wisconsin

Wisconsin edge rusher Zack Baun saw his draft stock rise after an impressive senior season with the Badgers. Baun’s journey up draft boards really started at the 2020 NFL Reese’s Senior Bowl; where he showed off the versatility he flashed during the season.

During Senior Bowl practices, Baun was asked to do a lot of linebacker drills. He showed his ability to change directions with ease for a player with solid edge-rusher size. Those were things that showed up when you watch him at Wisconsin.

Need him to cover? He did that as a zone coverage backer, showing off his recognition skills and fluidity. Baun even had a pick-six on the 2019 season for the Wisconsin defense. But to be sure, he can still get it done at a high level as a pass-rusher off the edge. He tallied 12.5 sacks this past season.

Ask him to put his hand in the dirt, he’ll show off some power at the point of attack. Want him to stand up — guess what he does best? He has a solid first step, with great technique and counter moves. He isn’t the most flexible but he has bendability. Oh, and he’s great against the run, as evident by his 75 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss.

Baun can do a variety of things but don’t ask him to just do one; put him in a system that’ll utilize his versatility and watch him dominate.
