4. Anthony Harris

Despite their strong defense, there is always room for improvement. And one area where New England could upgrade is at safety. Perhaps the best option on the free-agent market to improve there is former Viking Anthony Harris.

This past season, Harris was one of the top players for the Vikings on the defensive end of the field and stepped up numerous times while on the field to put together a career-best year in purple and gold.

In 2019, Harris wrapped up his fifth year in the league and with the Vikings after he broke into the league out of Virginia in 2015 when he was signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent.

During the regular season, Harris had a breakout year to help boost the Vikings defense, appearing in a total of 14 games while starting in all 14 of those contests. The 28-year-old ended up recording a career-high 60 tackles, while also grabbing a career-best six interceptions and one defensive touchdown along with one fumble recovery.

Time and time again throughout the course of the season, Harris stepped up and made a play when the Vikings needed someone to do so, proving his worth among the defensive group.

Harris, who will likely look to take his talents elsewhere this offseason as an unrestricted free agent, could be a nice young addition for the Patriots. New England’s safety group consisted of Devin McCourty and Nate Ebner in 2019, both players who are getting up there in age.

If Harris heads to Foxborough for the 2020 campaign, he would help boost an already solid Patriots defensive group.
