Trade for Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs has been subject to a lot of trade rumors this offseason, and usually where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Diggs has been phenomenal playing alongside Adam Thielen during his tenure in Minnesota, accumulating two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons over the past two years.

However, according to his social media and insiders around the league, he’s open to moving on from the team that drafted him. The Saints would be a prime landing spot for Diggs, as he’d be a great compliment to Thomas and could sure up the No. 2 receiver role. Diggs has the ability to play all over the formation and could easily beat single coverage.

His yards per target, yards per reception, and completed air yards all ranked top-ten among NFL wide receivers in 2019.  He already knows how to share the workload with another star receiver and would see increased productivity as he upgrades from Kirk Cousins to Drew Brees.

The Saints only have $12 million in cap space, so they would need to do some maneuvering in order to make the financials work. Nonetheless, adding a young, talented receiver to the starting lineup would take bracket coverage off of Thomas and open up the offense for the 41 year-old Brees. A Thomas-Diggs tandem would arguably create the best wide receiver duo in the league and be a nightmare to defend.

Potential Trade: The Saints trade the 24th overall pick to the Vikings for Stefon Diggs and the 138th overall pick
