Indianapolis Colts: 5 Big-name free agents to target in 2020
By Samuel Teets
4. Emmanuel Sanders, WR
Indianapolis needs wide receiver depth desperately. While T.Y. Hilton dealt with injuries, the passing game floundered this past season. At 30 years old, the four-time Pro Bowler turned in the worst season of his career. While Hilton should bounce back in 2020, the Colts need someone in place in case he continues dealing with injuries.

Unless the Colts want to keep relying on Zach Pascal as their second wide receiver, the team will look into the top available receivers. On a short-term deal, Emmanuel Sanders could alleviate some of the pressure Hilton faces and contribute to a winning football team. Sanders knows winning football. He’s gone to the Super Bowl three times, all with different teams, during his career.
Of course, Sanders is almost 33 years old, and his play is declining. I chose Sanders for this position because it seems unlikely that either Amari Cooper or A.J. Green will hit free agency. Robby Anderson is also available, but the Jets want him back and he wants more money than he’s worth. Sanders remains the best option.
Indianapolis could always hold off on signing a veteran receiver. The 2020 NFL Draft class sports the best group of wide receivers since Odell Beckham and Mike Evans entered the league together in 2014. However, the Colts did draft Ohio State’s Parris Campbell in the second round last year, and he played poorly as a rookie.
The Colts have options moving forward, but they should still add at least one receiver this offseason.
