All the signs point to the Jets being highly interested in re-signing Robby Anderson this offseason. And frankly, they need to. If New York can improve the offensive line heading into 2020, that will give Sam Darnold and the passing game more opportunities to be effective moving the ball downfield. But Gang Green also needs quality pass-catchers to make that happen.

Even with Bell, who is an elite receiving threat out of the backfield, and Anderson potentially returning, the Jets are severely lacking in that department. Jamison Crowder was actually the leading receiver last season but he’s hardly a player that you want leading the team. Thus, they’ll be looking for more mouths to feed and, if they re-sign him, for Anderson to make a jump.

Donovan Peoples-Jones is a prospect who could very much help that cause. While he failed to become a productive player at Michigan, that was not due to his physical tools. He tested out of his mind at the NFL Combine (4.48-second 40, 44.5-inch vertical) and showed why he has the potential to be a No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL if he’s in a quality offense.

That’s simply a threat that the Jets don’t have on their offense right now as Crowder works in the slot and Anderson is largely a deep threat. Peoples-Jones has the body and athleticism to contribute on all levels of the field and really allow Darnold and the Jets offense to take a big step forward.
