4. Carolina Panthers

Now that Teddy Bridgewater is officially coming on board to be the starter, it only seems like a matter of time before the Carolina Panthers find a trade partner for Cam Newton.

And while the case can be made that Carolina should still feel confident in Kyle Allen or Will Grier being reliable in the backup role, there’s no question that Trubisky would be an upgrade over both quarterbacks.

In each of the last two seasons, the Panthers appeared to be a lock for at least a Wild Card spot in the playoffs early on before collapsing in the final two months, meaning the pressure will be on for 2020.

Luckily with Matt Rhule on board and his history of turning teams around, Carolina has plenty of reasons to be excited about bouncing back strong next season.

But before jumping too far ahead down the road, the Panthers still need to focus on building the proper roster this offseason to put the team in the best position to compete during Rhule’s first season as head coach, including backup quarterback.

Bridgewater’s job would obviously be safe even if Trubisky were part of the picture, but from a reliability perspective, Carolina would be better off compared to their current situation.
