The Buccaneers are on the clock at No. 14 in the first round and up until now, it seemed as though this would be a great spot for them to grab a quarterback. However, that changed as soon as they gave Tom Brady a one-year contract. While he’s not the long-term answer, the Bucs know they can win with him — but they have to give him time in the pocket.

Last season, this was an issue for them as their line wasn’t the strength of the team. With that being the case, they go out and get a plug and play left tackle by selecting Andrew Thomas out of Georgia.
It wasn’t long ago that this would have felt like a pipe dream. Thomas entered the offseason as the top prospect at left tackle but has slowly fallen down the boards as other tackles have wowed the scouts with their athleticism.
This doesn’t mean Thomas isn’t still a viable player though, and he proved that time and again while with the Georgia Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound tackle was a three-year starter for Georgia and started racking up accolades right out of the gates. He was a Freshman All-American playing right tackle and then moved to the left side the following season and became an All-American there as well.
He can play either spot but the Bucs will surely want him covering Brady’s blindside as he helps the veteran quarterback take time in the pocket to spread the ball out to all the stars on the roster.
