NFL Free Agency 2020: 10 Best players still available and their best landing spots
8. Melvin Gordon, RB
Suffice it to say that Melvin Gordon‘s contract holdout with the Chargers last season didn’t exactly go as planned. Not only did he not get his money from the Bolts but, after he finally rejoined the team for the final 12 games of the regular season, he was unable to replicate the success he had the previous season.
While Gordon did amass eight rushing touchdowns this past season, he averaged only 3.8 yards per carry, his worst in any of the past four years and 1.3 yards per tote fewer than what he put up in 2018. It didn’t help his cause that Austin Ekeler was quite clearly the better back this season.

- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie sleeper everyone should be talking about
- Anthony Richardson putting jaw-dropping talent on display immediately

Even still, Gordon will have suitors given his 36 touchdowns over the past few seasons and overall ability. How much you pay a running back with his inconsistency, however, is up for debate and will be a crucial hurdle for any team to clear.
Best Possible Landing Spots: Buccaneers, Chiefs, Bills
7. Emmanuel Sanders, WR
Emmanuel Sanders started last season — shocking in itself after a late-season Achilles tear in 2018 — with the Denver Broncos but struggled to be consistent in an offense that was sputtering. That led to the veteran finding a new home via a trade with the 49ers and his appearance in the Super Bowl.
Though San Francisco isn’t known for the passing offense under Kyle Shanahan, Sanders was a real asset. In 10 regular-season games, he caught 36 of 53 targets for 502 yards and three scores. Even at 33 years old, Sanders has proven he’s got plenty left in the tank.
Teams in search of a No. 1 receiver in NFL free agency didn’t have many options and Sanders is no exception. Having said that, anyone in need of an elite complement in the slot should be happy if they can bring the veteran wideout into the fold.
