player. 15. Pick Analysis. LB. 24. Scouting Report. LSU. Patrick Queen

Just a few days ago, it seemed as though there was only one position the New Orleans Saints should consider in this draft — wide receiver. While they have Michael Thomas, who is one of the best in the gams, they needed to. put a No. 2 option out there alongside him. That’s changed though as they came to terms with free-agent Emmanuel Sanders on a two-year, $16 million deal.

Sanders is a great fit with them and even though he’s 33-years old, he’s coming off a season where he finished with 869 yards and five touchdowns om 66 receptions.

More impressively, he did so with two different teams, and wide receiver is usually not a position where a player can make a huge impact when he’s traded in-season. That wasn’t the case with Sanders, who had 502 yards and three scores for the 49ers, who were able to open their offense up immensely with his addition.

With him now lined up opposite Thomas, the Saints can add to another position of need, linebacker. Last season, New Orleans didn’t get great results from any linebacker not named Demario Davis, which is why they pick up LSU’s Patrick Queen here. Queen is undersized at 6-foot-0 and 229-pounds but he has three-down ability due to his skill in the passing game.

Queen also has elite instincts and more than enough speed (4.5 in the 40-yard dash) to get from one sideline to the other in a hurry.
