25. player. Pick Analysis. IDL. Oklahoma. Neville Gallimore. 60. Scouting Report

It’s not easy to recognize the Minnesota Vikings defensive line anymore. Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph are both gone after spending last season with the Vikings and they also lost Sheldon Richardson in the 2019 offseason — although he did only spend one season with the team. That means only Danielle Hunter remains from one of the most daunting lines in the NFL.

Head coach Mike Zimmer is a defensive-minded guy and can bring the best out in his players, but he still needs to have talent to work with. They should be good at defensive end with Hunter and Ifeadi Odenigbo, who made huge strides in his second season in the NFL last year. But the interior is a different story.

For that reason, Minnesota picks up Oklahoma’s Neville Gallimore here with their second pick in the first round. Gallimore is a big man at 6-foot-2 and 304-pounds, but he’s also very quick despite that size. He ran a 4.79 in the 40-yard dash at the Combine, which is impressive for such a large body. He’s also a relentless player who never eases up, which is something Zimmer will love.

Gallimore is still raw though, which is where having a defense-first coach can help. If Minnesota can get him to reach his potential, they might boast one of the better defensive lines once again in no time at all.
