Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. 7. player. 87

Entering this offseason, the Carolina Panthers were one of the teams expected to be looking to move up for a quarterback. They were coming off a season in which Cam Newton missed 14 games due to injury and neither Kyle Allen or Will Grier looked to be the answer. Although with Allen, he did have a hot start and could be a solid No. 2 for them.

Carolina no longer needs to make a move though as they landed Teddy Bridgewater in free agency. The former first-round pick had a gruesome knee injury which cost him his job with the Minnesota Vikings and nearly cost him his career as well. Bridgewater then went to the New Orleans Saints to rebound his career and he now joins their in-division rival.

With that question answered for first-year Matt Rhule and his Panthers, they can look for the best player available which happens to be Isaiah Simmons. For Carolina, this is huge as Simmons is not only the top talent on the board but he also fills a great need for them.

Recently, Luke Kuechly decided to call it a career. Kuechly is well known as the Panthers’ best linebacker, possibly ever, and it will be hard to replace him. Simmons is the right type of player to give it a try though.

He’s got the range of a safety and coverage skills as one also, but can make plays on the run like a linebacker. Some call him a tweener but that’s not a bad thing as it has nothing to do with him being poor at any position but rather due to confusion since he’s capable of playing more than one spot exceptionally well.
