After making a few moves in free agency, we can now look ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft and identify the top five targets for the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 17 overall pick

Entering this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys had a big need at safety, cornerback, and defensive tackle. There was also a concern at both wide receiver and defensive end, considering Randall Cobb and Robert Quinn weren’t guaranteed to return.

Both those players ended up signing big contracts with new clubs, which gave Dallas a couple more holes to deal with. So far in free agency, they have signed a few players but they haven’t addressed everything.

They should be applauded for the moves they did make though, as it puts them in a slightly better position as they inch closer to the NFL Draft. The biggest move was landing a Pro Bowl defensive tackle in Gerald McCoy, who replaces Maliek Collins — who headed to the Las Vegas Raiders along with Jason Witten and Jeff Heath.

Dallas also signed a former first-round pick safety, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who was with Mike McCarthy in Green Bay. Outside of that, it has been smaller signings such as Maurice Canady, who provide solid depth at cornerback and can keep them from reaching if a prospect in the draft that might not be a great fit.

In recent years, this has been the team’s M.O. They use free agency to fill their needs and then find their potential building blocks in the draft. With that again being the case this season, here are the top five targets they could land at No. 17 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
