4. Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina

Adding Gerald McCoy for $6 million per season was a boss move by Stephen Jones. As much grief as he gets for being overly frugal — which he is — the Cowboys seem to land at least one player every offseason that no one saw coming.

In 2019, they did that with Randall Cobb and while Robert Quinn was added via trade, it was more like another free agent add since he was allowed by the Miami Dolphins to visit other teams and practically pick his next destination.

McCoy solves some of their problems on the defensive line but he’s not going to be there long-term (32-years old and on a three-year deal). That means the Cowboys should think long and hard about taking South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw, the 6-foot-5, 324-pound athletic phenomenon. Kinlaw is a rare breed that can play with great strength and power and could turn into a threat as an interior pass rusher.

He has 10 sacks over the past two seasons for the Gamecocks but that was just a flash of his talent. Should he be able to refine his technique and become more consistent, Kinlaw could become a Pro Bowl player himself.

While there might be some issues with him and McCoy both thriving as three-techniques, they could surely be on the field together on passing downs which would cause opponents an awful lot of problems.
