4. Kindle Vildor, CB, Georgia Southern

There is depth at the defensive back position in the 2020 NFL Draft class. The Vikings can decide to wait until late Day 2 or early Day 3 for a scheme-specific player that fits what they like to do in Minnesota.

Under head coach Mike Zimmer, defensive backs must be physical at the line of scrimmage. Two players that did that for them were Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes. However, a player with a skill-set ideally suited for man-press is Georgia Southern’s Kindle Vildor.

Georgia Southern isn’t a well-known program and they aren’t exactly a hotspot for top recruits — don’t tell that to Vildor. From the moment he left the Eagles campus, he’s proven why he might be one of the best-kept secrets in the 2020 NFL Draft. Senior Bowl week was a shining moment for Vildor he consistently showed his man coverage ability. He was a magnet who was both instinctive and technically savvy.

Vildor carried that momentum and intercepted a pass during the Senior Bowl game. At the NFL Combine, he showed he’s one of the better athletes in the class with an excellent performance. Overall, he does what you want in man coverage. Scheme versatility is not one of Vildor’s strengths but he’s a technician who excels in exactly what the Vikings need. Pairing him with Mike Hughes gives them a physical duo.
