Pick Analysis. WR. Tee Higgins. Scouting Report. Clemson. 1. player. 879

With the 30th overall pick in the first round, the Green Bay Packers add a potential star wide receiver in Tee Higgins. Last season, the Packers weren’t the aerial threat the league is accustomed to seeing. On the year, they were ranked 17th in passing yardage with 233.3 per game according to NFL.com.

It was an off-year for Aaron Rodgers for sure, but it wasn’t all on him. The Packers offense didn’t have great options at receiver outside of Davante Adams — who had 83 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns.

After Adams, the next two highest reception totals belonged to running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

From there, Jimmy Graham showed up with 38 receptions for 447 yards. You have to go to their fifth-highest receiving total before finding another wideout, which is where Allen Lazard wound up with his 35 catches on the season.

Clearly, Adams needs help and while they added Devin Funchess, he’s coming off a campaign where he played just one game. That means they shouldn’t count solely on him, which is why Higgins is the pick here.

At 6-4 and 216 pounds, Higgins is a huge target but he can also take the top off a defense — evidenced by his 19.8 yards per catch as a junior. He can be a No. 1 wideout in time but serving as the No. 2 opposite Adams will allow him to take his time and develop into the weapon he can be. In the meantime, he gives the Packers a huge boost on offense.
