Tom Brady was a consideration for Raiders

We all knew changes at the quarterback position were possible for the Raiders this offseason. Even with Derek Carr on the roster, Gruden was expected to consider all possibilities at the game’s most important position.

So is it any surprise that Las Vegas had put themselves in the initial conversation to sign Tom Brady when the GOAT made himself available via free agency? Not really.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders were one of eight clubs interested in inking a deal with Brady. However, they ultimately decided that the price tag was too steep given their other needs and the fact that Carr (owed $19 million in 2020) is still on the roster. They pulled out of the race, and now Brady will be wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey the next time he takes the field.

Again, what does this mean for the Raiders’ draft plans? Well for starters, it means they’re still weighing their options at quarterback. As good as Carr has been at times during his six seasons with the franchise, he hasn’t shown enough consistency to cement his status as the starter.

That leads me to the next rumor…
