Dion Jordan unlikely to return

The Raiders haven’t been shy about spending money along the defensive line this offseason. With Carl Nassib, Maliek Collins and Daniel Ross all entering the mix via free agency, it’s looking like additional signings aren’t on the horizon.

That could mean a quick end to Dion Jordan‘s time with the franchise.

The former 2013 first-round pick turned journeyman was decent during his first and only season with the Raiders, tallying two sacks while serving as a rotational pass rusher. And yet, with cap space running out and the defensive line depth chart filling up, it’s looking like there’s no room for Jordan. The Athletic’s Vic Tafur backed up that assertion in a recent mailbag.

So what does that mean in regards to the 2020 NFL Draft? It means that you shouldn’t be expecting to many draft assets invested in the defensive line. If anything, Las Vegas will spend maybe a late-round pick or two to add some long-term potential and projects. Beyond that, the focus should be elsewhere come draft time.

If Jordan doesn’t land a roster spot soon, he could be on the Raiders’ shortlist of free-agent options when (or if) the 2020 campaign gets started.
