Detroit Lions: Top 5 targets with No. 3 pick in 2020 NFL Draft

Most likely, the Lions will wait until one of the later rounds to address their need at linebacker since there will be plenty of great options to choose from on the final two days of the draft.

But if Detroit decided to throw a curveball by going with a linebacker for the No. 3 pick, Isaiah Simmons seems like one of their best options as arguably the top player at the position from this year’s class.
After spending the first three years of his career with the Tigers at safety, Simmons made the switch to linebacker for the 2019 season, which makes this an even more intriguing option since the Lions would be able to possibly use him in multiple ways.
Simmons has received all sorts of high praise for his versatile style of play from over the years at Clemson, but just like every other prospect entering the draft, there are a few areas that will need to improve as well once the transition to the NFL becomes official.
Still, after recording eight sacks as a senior to go along with 16.5 tackles for loss, and three interceptions, it’s easy to understand the hype surrounding Simmons as a top linebacker, and even though the position isn’t considered the top need for Detroit, it still deserves consideration.
