Dallas Cowboys land game-changing playmakers in 7-round 2020 mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
There will be calls to replace Byron Jones earlier than this but unless they land C.J. Henderson at No.17, there aren’t many players in this class that can step right in and be a No. 1 cornerback. With him gone by the time Dallas was on the clock in the first round of this mock, they went a different direction. In the end, they wait until the 82nd pick to land a cornerback, but they land a good one with Virginia’s Bryce Hall.
Hall has excellent size, checking into the Scouting Combine at 6-foot-1 and 202-pounds. He’s capable of playing in man coverage and with Mike Nolan now running the defense, the Cowboys might let the defensive backs play to their strengths.
Not only could that help Jourdan Lewis and Chidobe Awuzie reach their potential but it could help Hall find his footing in the NFL.
There were some concerns from Hall though as his deep speed was in question. He wasn’t able to silence those questions at the Combine as he didn’t run the 40-yard dash. He missed the majority of his final season in Virginia with a broken ankle and medical checks will be important for him.
With the questions, he ends up sliding some — and for the Cowboys, that’s a good thing. This gives them three players in their first three picks that could end up turning into important contributors right away.
