Green Bay Packers: 5 Bargains available in second wave of free agency
By Joe Kipp
5. Tramon Williams, CB
A familiar name to Packers fans, cornerback Tramon Williams has been a staple in Green Bay’s secondary for several years. Williams, who turned 37 in March, is currently an unrestricted free agent. Despite his age, the 13-year NFL veteran was surprisingly one of the Packers’ best members of their secondary in 2019.

Williams was primarily a slot cornerback last season. He played his role perfectly, though, ranking 11th out of 112 cornerbacks in coverage grade, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), and was the No. 23 ranked cornerback overall. Even in his old age, Williams was decidedly one of the best corners in the NFL last season.
The Packers may only want to sign him to a one-year deal due to his age, but that doesn’t mean Williams wouldn’t have an impact — and not just on the field.
Williams has been a huge reason for the development of fellow corners Jaire Alexander and Kevin King, thanks to his presence as a leader in the locker room. Many younger players look up to older veterans for guidance, and Williams is just one example of that.
A one-year, $3 million deal might be enough to sway Williams, who has shown no indications that he would like to retire in the near future.
