Round 1. 829. WR. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pick 12. Jerry Jeudy

The majority of the mock drafts out there have Henry Ruggs III as the top pick for the Raiders and that makes a lot of sense. He’s a game-breaking wideout who can change the game in the blink of an eye with his speed.

However, the more he’s studied, the less he feels like a Jon Gruden guy. Instead, Ruggs feels like a guy who would do better in a more vertical passing attack rather than the short west-coast style offense that Gruden operates under.

For that reason, they go after another Alabama receiver in Jerry Jeudy. The No. 1 target for the Crimson Tide, Jeudy is the more polished receiver of the two even if he didn’t jump off the charts at the Scouting Combine the way Ruggs did when he ran his 40-yard dash.

Jeudy is a versatile weapon that can line up outside or in the slot. He’s smooth in and out of routes and rarely ever drops the ball.

What makes him an even better fit for Gruden is that he can take the short routes and turn them into more with his ability to pick up yards after the catch.

In addition to his route running and hands, Jeudy is a capable blocker in the run game. Considering how much Vegas leaned on Josh Jacobs in 2019, this is a trait that’s going to come up big for this club.
