Miami Dolphins: 5 Mistakes to Avoid in the 2020 NFL Draft
5. Don’t settle at quarterback
This should be obvious, but too many franchises year-in and year-out fail to be aggressive when it comes to the most important position in football. For years, the Dolphins have been in a position to draft a quarterback after several mediocre seasons from Ryan Tannehill allowed them to pick near the top of the draft boards. They cannot settle once again.

While Cincinnati may be steadfast in their position and refuse to trade their No. 1 overall pick, no other team should be able to outbid the Dolphins for the next quarterback off of the board.
Miami has more picks than anyone else in this draft; the only reason they wouldn’t be able to move up to select a quarterback would be the teams ahead of them refuse to trade out of their spot.
If they need to overpay to select Tua Tagovailoa, so be it. The decision of choosing a franchise quarterback will make or break the tenure of the entire front office; if Miami even gets the slightest inclination that a team could jump them in the pecking order, there should be no hesitation from Grier to get a deal done.
They have the necessary capital, so the Dolphins not getting the second-best quarterback would be an unjustifiable failure.
