Former NFL running back and rushing champion Chris Johnson is reportedly accused in a murder-for-hire plot according to court documents.
A potential bombshell report, TMZ Sports reported on Thursday that former NFL running back Chris Johnson has been accused of funding a murder-for-hire in Florida court documents. According to the report, Johnson has not yet been charged in regards to any crimes and Johnson’s representation responded to TMZ to say that the former NFL star denies any accusations or allegations.
Johnson is accused of being the money behind the shooting deaths of two men in 2016. According to the documents, law enforcement officials accuse Johnson of paying Dominic Bolden — a noted gang member in Florida — to shoot and kill two other men.
The men who were shot and killed in separate incidents in January 2016 and July 2016 were the suspected shooters in a 2015 incident in Orlando in which two males opened fire on Johnson’s vehicle, leaving the former NFL running back with a bullet wound but also fatally wounding his friend and the driver of the vehicle, Dreekius Johnson.

The documents state that was believed to be a gang-related attempt on Johnson’s life. That then allegedly, according to an informant mentioned in the court documents, led to his ties with Bolden growing stronger. Johnson allegedly aided Bolden in terms of growing a narcotics ring. The murder-for-hire also reportedly helped raise Bolden’s reputation in the gang.
Again, it has to be noted that Chris Johnson has yet to be formally charged of anything at the given moment. Everything at this point is alleged and, also again, Johnson and his people have denied any involvement in the matter when asked about it.
During his NFL career, Johnson was one of the most electric players in the league. The former first-round pick rushed for 2,006 yards in the 2009 season. He also registered at least 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first six seasons, all with the Tennessee Titans. He later spent a year with the New York Jets and three with the Arizona Cardinals to conclude his career.
While there are no charges yet, these are obviously serious accusations levied against Chris Johnson in these court documents. This is definitely worth monitoring moving forward with the 34-year-old.
