Pick Analysis. Round 3. Kyle Dugger. 28. Scouting Report. Pick 80. S. player

With their first of three picks in the third round, the Raiders add a safety in Kyle Dugger. They created this need when they moved on from Karl Joseph, a former first-round pick of the previous regime. They did add Damarious Randall, who was great at free safety for the Browns in 2018 but took a step backward last year. Joseph, ironically enough, joined the Browns and will help them replace Randall.

For Vegas, they could use a player who is better closer to the line of scrimmage, which is where Dugger comes in. The Lenoir-Rhyne product showed up to the NFL Scouting Combine measuring in at 6-1 and 217 pounds. Despite his size, he can fly as he put up a 4.49 in the 40-yard dash.

He’s good in coverage and can get from one side of the field to the other but can also bring the heat when it comes to tackling. The one question is how his talent translates to the NFL. Lenoir-Rhyne is a little-known school that doesn’t play the toughest competition. Dugger stood out there due to his NFL talent but he often won on his athleticism alone.

In the NFL, that won’t be enough. He’s going to have to learn to play to the competition and while he’s more than capable, we only saw him do this at the Senior Bowl where he showed he can hold his own and even stood out as a good returner. As long as he can build on that, he should have a long career in the NFL.
