3. Wide receiver

Over the past few seasons, the Minnesota Vikings have held one of the most dynamic and potent wide receiving units in the entire NFL.

With the star duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen to pair alongside the rest of the wideout group and Pro Bowl tight end Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota has held the ability to be able to air things out in the passing game at any point in a game and throughout the whole field.

This offseason and leading up to the upcoming draft, however, wide receiver is a need that will require addressing at some point during the seven-round draft. To start the offseason, the Vikings traded away Diggs and lost Laquon Treadwell in free agency. That leaves Adam Thielen as the primary target for quarterback Kirk Cousins in the passing attack.

Minnesota does have promising young wide receivers such as Chad Beebe and Olabisi Johnson on its roster, but the purple and gold will need to add to that group even more in the draft.

With Minnesota holding two first-round picks at No. 22 and No. 25, you would think one of those selections will be on a wide receiver in a draft that is filled with promising wideout prospects. If the Vikings don’t go with a wide receiver with either of their first two picks in the opening round, look for them to immediately address that need in the second or third rounds.

Thielen is a talented wideout that is capable of taking over the No. 1 receiver duties, but he will need some help behind him to try and make an impact in the passing game in 2020.
