58. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Ohio State. player. Scouting Report. Chase Young. 2

The Pick: Correction: If only all the picks besides this one were this simple. This is also a no-brainer, and thank goodness because I need to save my fingers for typing the next selections. Like with Burrow, Chase Young was always going to be the pick here.

Imagine a defensive line of Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat, Da’Ron Payne and Ryan Kerrigan. That’d be five first-round players! And Young might be the best edge rusher prospect since, well, Nick Bosa. But Young could be just as good, too.

Alternative Picks: But wait! The motto that you MUST have glued into your brain: Expect the unexpected. Even then, this will be Chase Young. It’s an interesting thought to consider a quarterback here, though. If Ron Rivera and co. don’t believe Dwayne Haskins is the guy, then that could set them back for years. Whether they have faith in their second-year passer is a whole other story, because nothing suggests this pick will be anyone other than Young.

As for a trade, I bet Washington wants way more than any team is willing to give them. They’ll very likely stay put, especially with how much more of a headache it could be to communicate with potential trade partners. The only way a pick other than Young could happen is if owner Dan Snyder waves his magic hands.
