817. . Safety. Tigers . Grant Delpit. 41. player

Will teams in need of help at the safety position regret passing on Grant Delpit in the first round of the draft?

More from NFL Spin Zone

One of the most exciting factors about this time of year is seeing some of the first-round talent that happens to fall into the second round, and time will tell when it comes to seeing if this happens to be the case for Delpit.

Rightfully so after winning the National Championship this past season, LSU saw plenty of their key players hear their name called on opening night of the draft, and the Browns would love nothing more than to see Delpit still available at No. 41.

Tackling will be one of the areas of weakness Delpit will need to improve on once he makes the transition to the NFL, but at least Cleveland seems like they would be willing to work with him to put the defense in better shape.

Thanks to Lamar Jackson helping the Baltimore Ravens emerge as a top offense in the league last season, Cleveland’s defense is going to be a major difference-maker in regards to whether the Browns can actually compete in the AFC North next season.

A young talent like Delpit isn’t going to solve all of the issues the Browns experienced on defense, but he could very well turn out to be one of the missing pieces.
