Dallas Cowboys are owning everyone in the 2020 NFL Draft
By Randy Gurzi
The Dallas Cowboys are having one of their best drafts in recent memory and they’re clearly doing better than anyone else in the 2020 NFL Draft
We all saw the jokes on Thursday as we were awaiting the start of the 2020 NFL Draft. With COVID-19 forcing teams to make their selections from home, everyone expected Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to go rouge and make some huge misfires.
It wasn’t just the fans out there poking fun at Jones on social media either. While he was trending on Twitter, media members were also pointing to the possibility that Jones could goof something up.
One such person was Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who brought up the fact that Jones wanted Johnny Manziel in 2014 but was “restrained” by his son Stephen Jones. And now, Florio said no one was there to stop Jerry this time.

"This year, Jones will make the Cowboys’ pick from his home, with no one else around. Which means no one will be there to physically restrain him, if it comes to that."
Now with two picks in for the Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft, there might be calls for Jones to be left alone more often. Not only have the Cowboys made two solid picks, but they are also absolutely crushing everyone else so far.
First up was their selection of CeeDee Lamb at No. 17 and while wide receiver wasn’t a huge need, Lamb was apparently the No. 6 player on the team’s board. His addition will make up for the loss of Randall Cobb, who had 828 yards receiving last season, and could provide them an even bigger play-maker.
The only concern there was that they didn’t replace cornerback Byron Jones who left in free agency. This concern was put to rest though as they made another solid pick at No. 51 when they called on Alabama corner Trevon Diggs.
Diggs has excellent size at 6-1 and 205-pounds and as a former wide receiver, he has excellent ball skills. And as good as Jones was, he didn’t get enough turnovers which is one of the reasons Dallas allowed him to leave in free agency.
They took a lot of heat for that but it’s hard not to say they’re better using the money Jones was trying to get to land defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe as well as safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in addition to this pick.
It’s always a good time picking on the Cowboys for their drafting but they have had their share of wins in recent years, but none have been bigger than what they have done early in the 2020 NFL Draft.
