The 2020 NFL Draft came and went this past weekend and the Chicago Bears made the picks they felt would improve the roster. Grades for those picks.

The moment we all waited for came and went this past weekend. The 2020 NFL Draft happened virtually and went off without a hitch. The Chicago Bears, among other teams, selected the prospects they felt would improve the roster and help them win more games than last season.

Of course, having a successful draft is subjective at this time. These kids haven’t played a snap yet so we don’t know what will happen. Some teams who get a high rating today might not get the most from their prospects. Other teams who get a low rating might end up with steals. Until we see the results, it’s all a crapshoot.

So why are we doing grades? Yes, I just said it’s a crapshoot. The thing is, we can still grade who they picked against what their needs were. Did they do a good job of filling their needs? Besides, it’s fun for people to see the speculation and find out later how good (or bad) that speculation ended up being.

The Bears sat out the first night of the draft. They had no first-round pick because of the Khalil Mack trade back in 2018. This was the second year in a row they didn’t have a pick on opening night. They have one next year so it’ll feel weird reporting on that.

Chicago did have two picks in the second round. Then they were still until the fifth round, where they were busy. They traded their 2021 fourth-round pick to get an extra pick in the fifth this year. They ended up with three fifth-round picks. They also had a sixth-round pick and consecutive seventh-round picks.

How did they do with their picks? Did general manager Ryan Pace do a good job of filling the team’s needs? We grade the Chicago Bears’ 2020 draft picks.
