Keeping track of all of the NFL news concerning which 2017 first-round draft picks have had their fifth-year options picked up and whose have been declined.
Every first-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft is set to embark on their fourth season in the league. For some players, such as Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson or even T.J. Watt, it’s been a magical run already. As for others, such as Charles Harris, Reuben Foster or Mitchell Trubisky, that has not been the case.
Subsequently, the 2020 NFL offseason has been critical for these players in regards to their futures. As they enter year four, this offseason is the time when their teams must decide on whether or not they want to pick up the fifth-year option on their contracts. The salary for the fifth-year option often goes up exponentially by position, which makes the decision all the more difficult for teams.

There are very few surprises in terms of the players whose options were picked up and those who weren’t. However, this is the latest NFL news regarding the fifth-year options. Now these players are either sitting comfortable for another year as they eye a long-term deal or are left in a prove-it situation in 2020.
