10 NFL head coaches under the most pressure in 2020
By Dan Parzych
8. Matt Patricia, Detroit Lions
Two years ago, the Detroit Lions hired Matt Patricia with the hope of the defensive mastermind being able to turn things around to make the team a legitimate contender in the NFC again.
Unfortunately, Patricia is entering his third NFL season as head coach with the Lions, and only has nine total wins to his name, including just three from 2019.
Not even the argument of Matthew Stafford dealing with a back injury towards the end of last season can be used as an excuse since the struggles were taking place well before the injury, as the Lions won just once during the final three months of action.
Time will tell when it comes to seeing whether Patricia has what it takes to help Detroit turn things around in 2020, but unfortunately this will be easier said than done.
The rest of the competition within the NFC North alone makes the Lions seem like a long shot at this point in the offseason since each of the other three teams all seem capable of making a run at the playoffs.
If Patricia thought he was feeling the heat in the final months of last season, just imagine how hot his seat could get in 2020 if Detroit gets off to a rough start.
