Winner: Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys

In 2019, Dak Prescott surprised many in the fantasy world by throwing over 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding three more scores on the ground. He finished the season as QB2, ahead of household names like Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson. With that sort of performance, there’s very little room for Prescott to improve. But if he does, it will be because of first-round wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Lamb was a three-year starter while at Oklahoma. His ability to track the ball and dodge would-be tacklers has led many to compare the former Sooner to All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins. If the rookie is able to fill even one of Nuk’s cleats, then chances of Dak repeating last year’s success are pretty good.

Loser: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers made history in the 2020 draft using all seven of their picks to improve upon last year’s 31st ranked defense. While that tactic has a good chance at improving the team’s overall record, it probably will not help Christian McCaffrey repeat as the fantasy football points leader.

Fantasy productivity is the result of talent meeting opportunity. McCaffrey has all the talent in the world. But teams with stout defenses and balanced offenses don’t always generate a ton of opportunities. They take their time. They’re patient to let a game plan develop. And they’re rarely involved in a shoot out.

The Panthers plan on avoiding the type of play-from-behind situations that helped to catapult CMC to the top fantasy producer of 2019.
