Best part is, Martin doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon, and still seems capable of playing at a high level for years to come as long as he manages to stay healthy.
Prior to the start of the 2018 season, Martin signed a whopping six-year, $84 million extension to make sure Dak Prescott received the proper protection for years to come.
And while this factor alone makes it seem obvious that Dallas would prefer to hang on to Martin to keep the offense in the best shape possible for 2020 and beyond, it’s tough not to wonder if the Cowboys would ever consider a trade for salary cap reasons.
Not only did Dallas recently sign Cooper to a hefty deal less than a year after doing the same for Elliott, but the Cowboys realize Prescott is anxious to become one of the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks.
Long shot or not, there’s no denying that Cleveland would love the addition of someone like Martin to provide yet another reliable protector for Baker Mayfield to rely on to help the young quarterback bounce back in 2020.
