AFC West: Denver Broncos

This division feels like a lock. The Kansas City Chiefs steamrolled the competition in 2019 as they not only won the AFC West but also took home the Lombardi Trophy after knocking off the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

They were also the only team in the West with a winning record, finishing 12-4 while the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders (who are now moving to Las Vegas) finished tied for second at 7-9. The Los Angeles Chargers came in last with a mark of 5-11.

Should any of those teams be able to make a leap and challenge the Chiefs, it would have to be the Denver Broncos. After a season full of struggles, the Broncos showed at the end of the season they have some talent to work with. Rookie quarterback Drew Lock showed off his talented arm and his connection with Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant was impressive.

Then in the 2020 NFL Draft, general manager John Elway made sure to surround Lock with even more talent. In the first two rounds, he landed Jerry Jeudy from Alabama followed by K.J. Hamler out of Penn State. In the court, they also landed tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, who was one of Lock’s favorite targets at Missouri.

Denver also improved their offensive line with Lloyd Cushenberry in the third and they took a flier on Netane Muti who has day one talent but a long injury history. Should he shed the durability concerns, he could be an absolute steal.

On top of all this, the Broncos already have a pretty good defense and improved their running game by signing Melvin Gordon. This could be a team to watch in the AFC.
