Minnesota Vikings: 5 Biggest questions for the 2020 season
5. Can Minnesota Vikings return to the postseason?
In 2019, Minnesota was able to return to the playoffs after failing to reach the postseason the year prior while even making somewhat of a surprising run beyond the opening round of the 2019 NFL Playoffs.
The Vikings, who managed to upset the New Orleans Saints in the NFL Wild Card Round, reached the NFC Divisional Round before ultimately seeing their season come to a close after falling to the San Francisco 49ers in that game.
Not only will the question be whether or not Minnesota will be in the running for a divisional title in 2020, but also if it will be able to extend that postseason streak to two years in a row this year.
Last season, Minnesota concluded the 2019 campaign with a regular-season record of 10-6, grabbing double-digit victories for the first time since the 2017 campaign when it finished the year at 13-3 while making it as far as the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Along with grabbing 10 wins on the year, the Vikings finished in second place in the NFC North standings behind only the Green Bay Packers (13-3 overall), while sitting ahead of the Chicago Bears (8-8) and Detroit Lions (3-12-1) within the division. They also managed to snag the second Wild Card spot in the NFC, which resulted in Minnesota opening the playoffs in New Orleans to begin the postseason.
Right out of the gate in 2020, Minnesota could be viewed as favorites to claim the NFC North this season while trying to outlast Green Bay, Chicago and Detroit in order to do so.
There are multiple players that will have to step up and perform well for the Vikings to take another step in the right direction, but one of the questions leading into the upcoming year is if that will be enough to make a return to the playoffs at the end of the regular season.
