5. Trubisky got mad after the Foles trade…but in a good way

For the three seasons Trubisky has played in Chicago, he’s been the guy. Yes, the Chicago Bears had Mike Glennon as the starter in Trubisky’s rookie season but it was only a matter of time that Trubisky would be the starter. It turned out that the time it took for that to happen was just four games.

More from NFL Spin Zone

From the moment Trubisky got on the field as the starter the job was his, with no one behind him to really challenge him. In the last two seasons, he had Daniel as his backup but Daniel never possessed the tools to become a starter in the NFL. He’s a capable backup, but nothing more.

Now, in Foles, Trubisky has not only a good backup but also one who could actually replace him as a starter. Foles, like Trubisky, has had his ups and downs during his career. Yes, the downs included Jacksonville, but that place is a mess so it’s not a place to expect much success.

The times Foles has succeeded have occurred while running Nagy’s (also Andy Reid’s) system. He does a good job of reading the defense and getting rid of the ball quickly. He could take the reins of the offense and have some success.

So how did Trubisky feel when he heard about the trade? Per NBC Sports Chicago:

"It was kind of interesting to me. That’s the business that we’re in. I think I was pissed off in a good way. I’ve been motivated ever since."

Trubisky said he feels motivated to make everyone forget about last season. Even though he has a serious challenge now, he said he still feels this is his team. Trubisky has a good attitude, but there is a question I have — why did it take a challenge from Foles to get him this motivated?
